Difficulty Speaking

I've been speaking Italian long enough now that this shouldn't be happening, but every once in a while I have an air bubble in the brain... When recently asked to read something I responded in Italian "Without my ears I can't read anything!" What I meant to say was without my glasses, which are occhiali, I couldn't read anything. The word for ears is somewhat similar, orecchi. Orecchi, occhiali, either way, I still couldn't read it.
